Konami ha ufficialmente svelato l'ingresso di quest'anno nel suo franchise calcistico di lunga data, Pro Evolution Soccer. PES 2019 arriverà leggermente prima del solito, con una data di uscita il 28 agosto su PS4 e Xbox One negli Stati Uniti, il 30 agosto su PS4 e Xbox One in Europa e il 30 agosto su PC in tutto il mondo.
Tra le nuove funzionalità descritte da Konami ci sono la visibile stanchezza dei giocatori in campo, una fisica della palla e un posizionamento dei giocatori migliorati e una maggiore individualità dei giocatori. C'è anche il solito elenco di nuove animazioni, nuove celebrazioni e una grafica di gioco migliorata, così come una nuova interfaccia del menu.
MyClub vede "il suo più grande rinnovamento fino ad oggi", afferma Konami, con un nuovo sistema di progettazione delle carte dei giocatori e giocatori ad alte prestazioni che vantano "statistiche temporaneamente potenziate basate sulle prestazioni nel mondo reale", simili alle carte in-form di FIFA Ultimate Team. Master League, nel frattempo, include un nuovo sistema di negoziazione e "trasferimenti realistici".
Per quanto riguarda le licenze, Konami afferma di avere più campionati, stadi e club con licenza completa, ma nessuno di questi è stato finora divulgato, a parte Liverpool, Barcellona e Borussia Dortmund, tutti presenti in PES 2018. L'editore ha recentemente perso la licenza del club UEFA, il che significa che la Champions League e l'Europa League non saranno più incluse nelle loro forme ufficiali. L'edizione di quest'anno, tuttavia, vede il ritorno di David Beckham come Leggenda giocabile.
Dopo che EA ha portato FIFA 18 su Nintendo Switch l'anno scorso, alcuni fan speravano che Konami avrebbe seguito l'esempio con PES 2019. Tuttavia, queste speranze non sono state soddisfatte, con nessuna versione Switch ancora rivelata.

E quando scatta, e segni un tiro fragoroso dal limite dell'area o concludi un passaggio astuto o anche quando lanci un brutto pallone lungo in avanti per afferrare un gol della vittoria all'ultimo respiro, è la sensazione più vicina che proverai a essere lì fuori a segnare tu stesso."
